Siaya County Officials charged Over Ksh2 Billion Corruption

Four Siaya County government officials have been charged for allegedly stealing Ksh.2 billion in public cash over the last two years.

The Public Finance Management Act is said to have been violated by Jack Odinga (Acting Chief Officer of Finance), Geoffrey Ochieng (Acting Head of Treasury), Job Kingsley Amoth Otieno (Departmental Accountant-Imprest), and Hezron Junior Opiyo (Departmental Accountant-Imprest).

According to a petition filed by activists Peter Agoro, Erick Onyango, and Elizabeth Akinyi, a county government audit report found several unreported revenues and payments.

The petitioners are asking the court to order the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to conduct an investigation into the chief officers’ alleged misuse of public cash.
