On Monday, ODM Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna led a group of Azimio la umoja one Kenya Alliance MPs and protestors into the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
The group was met with resistance from the police, who teargassed them.
Despite the tear gas, the Senator and other protest leaders were able to enter the KICC.
There are currently ongoing battles at the KICC as police attempt to disperse the protestors gathered in the area.
“Hawa wabunge wametembea kutoka bunge, hawajabeba silaha yoyote lakini tunapigwa tear gas na hakuna makosa tumefanya. Tuna haki ya kufanya maandamano ya amani,” Sifuna said after getting into KICC.
“Am talking on tear gas but these things will not scare us, we are going to be here the whole day, we must accomplish our mission,” he added.
Junet Mohamed, who attempted to enter the KICC as well, was denied entry during the confrontation.
The police have attempted to maintain order and have warned protestors not to engage in violent behaviour.
