Simba Arati Goes After Ghost Workers

Kisii Governor Simba Arati has slapped the county government’s human resources, transportation, and finance departments with a whip, demanding an explanation for how the county pays ghost drivers on the payroll.

Governor Simba stated at the Kisii Agriculture Training Center (ATC) during a meeting with all county drivers and heads of departments that it is not logical for the county to pay 256 drivers for 82 county vehicles.
He claimed that the ghost drivers were receiving salaries from the country’s government that were intended for development projects and other services in the country.

Governor Simba has directed that all county drivers report to the Gusii stadium and stand alongside the vehicles they drive, including emergency service providers.

The governor warned the county assembly officers who have hidden the county vehicles in their homes to return them with immediate effect and face arrest.

“Why would someone keep the county vehicles in their homes? We have newly elected MCAs who want to use them,” said Governor Simba
