Singer Lady Bee Counting Losses After Her House Was Demolished In Athi River

Kenyan gospel singer Bernice Nduku alias Lady Bee is counting losses among her house was demolished in the ongoing demolition in Athi River, Machakos County.

Lady Bee was among the homeowners who had invested their hard-earned money in the now-disputed 4,298 acres piece of land.

In an emotional outcry, the singer revealed that five years of investment had gone down the drain within minutes.

“Watching helplessly my property go down is the most painful thing ever. My heart is so broken. Why didn’t you give us notice then? What happened to us was so inhuman, so insensitive, so devilish. 5 years investment inaenda chini kwa dakika,” Lady Bee said in part.

“I thank God because He’s not a man, Solomon didn’t kill the child by God’s wisdom, why did you allow this to happen to us?? To fellow kenyans, affordable houses really??? Revoke the title Really??? I’ve seen my neighbours build wakoswet chuma sasa zinaenda kwa vipimo mobys wanasherekea,Mali imeibiwa yote. But haina mambo, the God who saved me will answer very soon,”.

Multimillion luxurious homes have since last Friday been demolished following a High Court ruling that declared the occupation of the Portland Cement land illegal.

Demolished property includes private residences, churches, and schools.

Pleas from residents and leaders to have the demolitions stopped have bore no fruit so far as the flattening enters day four.

A directive was recently given by President Ruto to the Ministry of Land, ordering the revocation of titles for undeveloped land in Athi River spanning over a decade.

While the President’s intention was to encourage development and economic growth, the consequences have raised serious concerns.

On October 13, President Ruto expressed his frustration with land speculators who have held undeveloped parcels for years.

He called for their removal and the transfer of these lands to the Export Processing Zone (EPZ).
