Six Killed After Gunman Opened Fire At A Jerusalem Bus Stop

At least six people have been killed and several others wounded after Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a crowded bus stop in north Jerusalem, in one of the deadliest attacks in the city this year.

The shooting took place on Monday at Ramot Junction, a busy intersection on Yigal Street that links to East Jerusalem. Witnesses described scenes of panic as gunfire erupted among commuters waiting for buses during the morning rush hour.

Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom (MDA), said five people were pronounced dead at the scene. Israeli foreign minister Gideon Saar later revised the figure to six, adding that a pregnant woman was among the wounded. The police confirmed that two assailants were shot and killed at the site.

The MDA reported that seven others were in serious condition following the attack, although it was not immediately clear if that figure had changed as the casualty count rose. Hospital officials said doctors were fighting to save the lives of several critically injured patients.

Security forces cordoned off the area as investigators searched for evidence and combed nearby streets.
