Six men suspected to be behind a series of violent robberies in Kajiado and neighboring
counties are in custody after a sting operation by detectives from the Crime Research
and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB).
The suspects are linked to a robbery with violence incident on August 8, 2025, when a
gang clad in police jungle uniforms raided the Korean Mission Camp (MCK) in Elerai,
Mashuuru Sub-County. Armed with crude weapons, they fatally attacked a night
watchman before escaping with valuables.
Following the brutal raid, detectives launched a manhunt that led to the arrest of Muoki
Mulee in Kitengela and Ambrose Mutuku near Machakos Junction on August 19. A
search at Mutuku’s home in Kitulu village, Machakos County, yielded police uniforms
suspected to have been used in the robberies and Sh49,000 in cash.
Investigations have since revealed that both Mulee and Mutuku are ex-convicts who
were released from Machakos Prison in December 2024.
The crackdown extended to Kantafu, Matungulu Sub-County, where four other suspects
Dominic Moenga Mwambi, Joseph Mamai, Gideon Nyaga Njeri, and Alex Mwaura
Waweru were apprehended. Detectives also seized three vehicles (KDJ 066S, KCX
851Q, and KDP 825D) believed to have been used in the robberies.

Police have linked the gang to a series of robbery with violence cases in Kimana,
Mashuru, Wote, and other areas.
The six are currently in custody and will be charged with robbery with violence, an
offence that attracts a maximum penalty of death under Kenyan law.
