Six Suspects Arrested for Robbery with Violence in Kajiado

Six men suspected of orchestrating a wave of violent robberies in Kajiado and neighboring counties are in police custody following a sting operation by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB).

The suspects are linked to a robbery with violence incident on August 8, 2025, when a gang dressed in police jungle uniforms raided the Korean Mission Camp (MCK) in Elerai, Mashuuru Sub-County. Armed with crude weapons, the attackers fatally assaulted a night watchman before fleeing with valuables.

Detectives launched a manhunt that first led to the arrest of Muoki Mulee in Kitengela and Ambrose Mutuku near Machakos Junction on August 19. A raid at Mutuku’s home in Kitulu village, Machakos County, recovered police uniforms believed to have been used in the robberies, along with Sh49,000 in cash.

Investigations revealed that both Mulee and Mutuku are ex-convicts, released from Machakos Prison in December 2024.

The crackdown later extended to Kantafu, Matungulu Sub-County, where four more suspects, Dominic Moenga Mwambi, Joseph Mamai, Gideon Nyaga Njeri, and Alex Mwaura Waweru, were arrested. Detectives also seized three vehicles (KDJ 066S, KCX 851Q, and KDP 825D) believed to have been used in the robberies.

Police have since linked the gang to a string of violent robberies in Kimana, Mashuuru, Wote, and other parts of the region.

The six suspects remain in custody and will be charged with robbery with violence, an offence that carries a maximum penalty of death under Kenyan law.
