Illegal Somali Migrant Pleads Guilty

A Somali national has been arraigned at Milimani Law courts where he pleaded guilty to being an Alien in Kenya.

Mohamed Abdiazz Yusuf was today arraigned in Court where he faced charges of being unlawfully present in Kenya contrary to the Law.

According to the charge sheet, the accused person was arrested on September 28, 2022, at the Foreign National Management section at Immigration Headquarters, the reason for the arrest is that he produced an invalid passport.

According to the prosecution, upon forensic search, it was confirmed that the passport expired in 2019. The Somali National could not explain why he did not renew his passport.

It was further discovered that since he came to Kenya, he has never applied for a certificate of stay in Kenya.

Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, the presiding Magistrate fined him to pay Ksh 400,000 after which the state would deport him to Somalia.
