Son of Rob and Michele Reiner Charged With Murdering Parents

Nick Reiner, Son of Hollywood Director Rob Reiner, Charged With Murdering Parents

Los Angeles prosecutors have filed murder charges against Nick Reiner in connection with the deaths of his parents, acclaimed Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele.

District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced on Tuesday that the 32-year-old faces two counts of first-degree murder. The charges include the special circumstance of multiple murders and a special allegation that he used a knife as a “dangerous and deadly weapon.”

If convicted, he could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty, though Hochman said a decision on seeking the death penalty has not yet been made.

The charges were filed two days after the couple was found dead with multiple stab wounds in their Brentwood, California, home.

Reiner will be formally arraigned and enter a plea after he is medically cleared by prison officials. His arraignment, initially expected Tuesday, has been scheduled for a later date.

Rob Reiner, 77, directed several iconic films across genres, including This Is Spinal TapMisery, and A Few Good Men. Michele Reiner, 74, was an actress, photographer, and producer, as well as the founder of the photography agency and production company Reiner Light.
