On Tuesday, former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko met with a young woman from Murang’a who had tattooed his face on her thigh.
In a statement on Social Media X, the controversial politician revealed that he found Ms. Mary Njoki waiting for him in his office.
“I studied up to Class Eight; I didn’t proceed with further education,” Ms. Njoki told the former governor.
The mother of two continued to explain to Sonko about her desire to own a clothing store in Murang’a town, stating that she needs approximately Sh200,000 to start the business.
The wealthy businessman showed his willingness to assist the woman in establishing the shop and selling clothes, stating that he cannot give her money directly.
“First, get the shop, then we’ll send our people to inspect it. I’ll talk to the governor there; he’s my friend, or even Sabina Chege, they are all my friends,” Sonko told her.
He continued, “Let them see the shop; we’ll pay for the first six months. We need to see where you’re buying stock from. We’ll pay for it. There’s no cash here; you’re not given cash to walk away with. To be honest, we don’t operate that way. If you want that money, forget it. We don’t give out money.”
The former governor also took the opportunity to advise the mother of two against rushing into things, cautioning her against having too many children while she is still not financially stable.
On the other hand, the politician also offered the woman temporary work in his office as they waited to determine the best solution for her.
When asked if she would remove the tattoo of Sonko now that they had met and spoken, the mother of two said, “I can’t remove it; it can’t come off.”
Recently, Ms. Mary Njoki created a video showing Sonko’s face tattooed on the upper part of her left thigh.
In the video, which was circulated on social media, she appealed to the former governor for help, citing financial difficulties.
“Hi Sonko, Mike Sonko, how are you? I am Mary Njoki from Murang’a. I am the one who tattooed you, and here it is on my leg. I am going through many difficulties, I just need your help. I have children who need to grow up. I have no family, no parents. It’s just the children, I’m all alone, and I just ask you to help me. Even if it’s just a job, if you give it to me, I will be grateful to God,” Ms. Njoki said.
Explaining the reason for the tattoo, the woman said that Sonko’s generosity impressed her, and she just wanted to surprise him.
“I’m just asking you, Mike Sonko, please help me. God will bless you. This is me, and this is the tattoo, a young lady from Murang’a,” she said.
