Spanish Striker Rodrigo Gifts St Anthony’s Midfielder Sh100k Boots

Former Leeds United striker Rodrigo Moreno, who turns out for Al Rayyan, has gifted St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale midfielder Joseph Omuse after learning of his past struggles in the streets of Bungoma town.

The youngster’s story of life struggles came up a fortnight ago during the national school games in Kakamega, where he inspired the Solidarity Boys to a national title.

His guardian, Joseph Mukolwe, who rescued him from the streets, shared the youngster’s life transformation from an emaciated, destitute child to a fast-rising football star.

His story touched many within and outside the border, and among them is Spanish international Moreno, who recently left Leeds United for Al Rayyan. The striker has now gifted the player boots worth just over KES 100,000 that are currently on their way from Doha.

“Hi Omuse, I am Rodrigo from Al Rayyan, and I just want to say congratulations for your call-up to the team (St. Anthony’s Boys). I just sent you boots from Qatar, and I hope you enjoy them. All the best,” the Spanish international said in a short video.

The player on his side expressed his gratitude to the former Leeds United, Real Madrid, Valencia, Bolton Wanderers, and Benfica man.

“Hey Rodrigo, I am grateful for the boots. As you know, I am a total orphan, and this means a lot to me. May God bless you for this,” the youngster said.

Omuse scored three goals at the recently concluded East African School Games in Rwanda, but unfortunately, the Solidarity Boys, just like other Kenyan boys’ schools, exited in the group stage.
