National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula on Monday hosted a delegation of outstanding Kenyan university students who recently earned global recognition at the prestigious Huawei ICT Competition in China.

The students, hailing from various universities across the country, represented Kenya in four major categories, network, computing, cloud, and AI innovation, where they showcased exceptional technical skill and innovation on the international stage.

Kenya’s computing track team emerged as global champions, securing first place, while an all-girls team achieved a remarkable second-place finish in the cloud track category, underscoring the country’s growing presence in the global tech landscape.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to these bright young minds for their exemplary performance and for flying the Kenyan flag high,” said Speaker Wetang’ula. “Your achievements are a testament to what our youth can accomplish with focus, resilience, and opportunity.”

Hon. Wetang’ula further praised Huawei Technologies for its ongoing support in empowering young people through education and technology. “Such initiatives are vital in nurturing talent, promoting knowledge exchange, and preparing our youth for the realities of a digital economy,” he remarked.

The students were accompanied by Huawei Kenya Deputy CEO Mr. Steven Zhang, Director of Talent Ecosystem Mr. Michael Kamau, Director of Media and Government Relations Ms. Khadija Ahmed, and Director of Public Affairs Mr. Yuta Leng.
