Betting firm SportPesa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ronald Karauri has joined the August 2022 political race seeking to be the next Member of Parliament for Kasarani Constituency.
Karauri announced his political bid on Wednesday during a function at Kasarani Health Centre.
He will be seeking to unseat the incumbent Kasarani MP Mercy Gakuya.
“I have officially announced my bid and I am asking for your votes,” he said.
He urged Kasarani residents to vote for leaders who will begin to transform their lives alongside him.
He, however, did not disclose which party he intends to use as he seeks to launch his maiden political career.
Current MP Mercy Gakuya who was elected on a jubilee ticket is also interested in the seat.
Others who have expressed interest in the seat include veteran rapper Jackson Ngechu popularly known as Prezzo.
Karauri joins the long list of people who enjoy celebrity status who have tossed their hands into the murky waters of politics.
