Spotify Expands Advertising Reach in Kenya Through Aleph Group Partnership

Written by Faith Mwende

Spotify has deepened its presence in Kenya and other African markets through an expanded global advertising partnership with Aleph Group.

The new agreement grants Aleph the responsibility of managing Spotify’s ad sales in over 80 countries, including Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda.

This strategic move is expected to reshape how brands connect with Kenyan audiences, providing access to Spotify’s advanced ad platform and tools.

Kenyan advertisers will now benefit from locally managed campaign solutions, supported by Aleph’s deep understanding of regional markets.

The expansion comes as Kenya’s music scene gains global traction. Spotify’s 2024 data revealed that Kenyan artists were discovered by new listeners more than 95 million times, with over 16 million global playlists featuring local talent.

In recent years, domestic music consumption has also grown significantly, reflecting a strong appetite for homegrown content.

With more than 375,000 Spotify users in Kenya, brands now have a direct line to a highly engaged, mobile-first audience.

The platform’s ad manager offers tools for precision targeting, measurable outcomes, and immersive formats such as Canvas and opt-in video ads delivering messages to listeners during key moments like commutes, workouts, or relaxation.

Aleph’s partnership with Spotify, which began in just four countries back in 2013, now spans the globe.

In Kenya, the company will provide training and support to advertisers navigating the Spotify Ads Manager system, helping local businesses harness the power of digital audio marketing.

Sam Bevan, Spotify’s Global Head of Emerging & Scaled Markets, said the partnership aligns with the platform’s broader goal of making digital advertising more scalable and automated in growth markets.

As Kenya’s creative economy continues to expand, this collaboration offers fresh momentum for local brands, marketers, and artists alike bridging global tech with East African culture and creativity.
