Spurs Riding Wave After Watford Win

Tottenham’s 100 percent start to the season was maintained when Son Heung-min scored the winning goal in his 200th Premier League game against Watford.

Spurs will be top of the table coming into the international break in September, while Watford will be 12th.

Nuno Espirito Santo also becomes only the second Tottenham manager to win his first three league games in charge, with Arthur Rowe doing it in 1949.

However, an outstanding Watford team made them work hard for their triumph, and they were unfortunate to surrender when Son’s inswinging free-kick fooled goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann and struck the bottom-right corner.

While Tottenham’s Harry Kane was surprisingly quiet in his first Premier League start of the season, the hosts Steven Bergwijn, Eric Dier, and Dele Alli all had chances.

Xisco Munoz’s team, on the other hand, posed a serious attacking threat.

Juraj Kucka missed two good scoring chances, and Emmanuel Dennis gave Spurs some nervous moments.

As Spurs emerged from the tunnel before kick-off, there was a sense of optimism, with Kane, in particular, enjoying a raucous ovation from the home crowd.

While newly-promoted Watford will likely have different goals for the rest of the season, Spurs’ win puts them in a good position for a difficult run of games.
