47 new Covid-19 cases have marked the highest tally of confirmed single-day infections in the country, raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 582.
While appearing at a press briefing on Wednesday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe confirmed two more deaths, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 26.
In the recent cases 32 are from Mombasa, 11 from Nairobi, two from Busia and one in both Kiambu and Kwale.
Kagwe further announced tougher measures to secure Eastleigh and Old Town areas in the country, by imposing a cessation of movement in and out of the county.
The two areas will be out of reach for a period of 15 days, with the government urging residents to turn out for mass testing.
