President William Ruto has made new appointments to various boards of parastatals and state agencies, just two weeks after adding more personnel to his administration.
In a gazette notice dated March 10, 2023, the head of state appointed former West Pokot Governor John Lonyangopuo to the Board of Directors of the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency.
He will succeed David Chumba Chemweno, whose appointment has been revoked.
Former East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism PS John Konchella has been appointed as a board member of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority for the next three years, while Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo has been appointed as chairperson of the LAPPSET Corridor Development Authority Board for the same period.
Former Senator Anwar Oloitiptip, who had previously been nominated for a CAS position, will join Mbogo as a board member. Eng. Shadrack Tulon, Abdikahiya Maalim, Nasra Ibrahim Ibren, and Jeremiah Apalia Lomari will also serve on the LAPPSET board.
Emilio Mugo has also been appointed Chairperson of the National Environmental Management Authority’s Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning March 10.
President Ruto has also appointed Francis Gichaba as Chairperson of the Kenya Tourism Board for the next three years, while Dr. Rispa Waphukulu will serve in the same capacity at the Kenya Literature Bureau.
Former Lake Basin Development Authority Chairperson Odoyo Owidi has been appointed to the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency’s Board of Directors. He will succeed Daniel Omino, whose appointment has been revoked.
Brown Ondego, the former Kenya Ports Authority MD, will also serve as chair of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority for three years.
According to the Gazette notice, Attorney General Justin Muturi has also appointed former journalist Jane Ngoiri to the HIV and AIDS tribunal.
Ngoiri will serve under the chairperson Carolyne Mboku and alongside five other members from various fields of expertise.
Others appointed to the tribunal are Nelson Wanyonyi Osiemo, Brian Ouko Yego, Dr. Irene Njahira Mukui, Prof. Walter Godfrey Jaoko and Dr. Solomon Musani.
