State On Alert as Daily COVID Tally Crosses 1,000

The Ministry of Health has raised the alarm on the rising cases of COVID-19 in Kenya, after 1,064 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours. – By Gerald Gekara.

The total confirmed positive cases are now 115,031.

The 1,064 new cases were recorded in; Nairobi 681, Kiambu 93, Nakuru 69, Uasin Gishu 40, Kisumu 25, Kajiado 23, Busia 20, Machakos 17, Kericho 17, Mombasa 15, and Nyeri had 10 cases.

Other cases were; Kirinyaga 8, Isiolo 5, Mandera 5, Laikipia, Turkana, Nandi, and Meru had 4 cases, while Elgeyo Marakwet, Migori, and Siaya recorded 3 cases each.

Embu, Kakamega, Kwale, Marsabit, Murang’a, Narok, Nyamira, Nyandarua, Tharaka Nithi, Baringo, and Bomet reported 1 case each.

Out of the cases, 964 were Kenyans while 100 were foreigners.

In terms of gender, 558 are males and 506 are females. The youngest is a two-year-old baby while the oldest is 91

Seven more patients have succumbed to the disease, raising the cumulative fatalities to 1,925.

Meanwhile, 185 patients have recovered from the disease, 149 from the Home Based and Isolation Care, while 36 are from various health facilities. Total recoveries now stand at 88,781.

According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 709 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 2,223 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

There are 104 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 25 of whom are on ventilatory support and 70 on supplemental oxygen. 9 patients are on observation.

Another 25 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 24 of them in the general wards and 1 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
