Stock Theft Suspects Arrested in Garissa County, Six Donkeys Recovered

Security officers in Bura East Sub-County, Garissa County, have arrested six suspects and recovered six stolen donkeys in a swift operation carried out in the early hours of October 4, 2025.

According to authorities, the suspects were intercepted in Al Emej Village while attempting to load the animals onto a lorry. They were immediately taken into custody and are set to be processed before facing charges in court.

The recovered donkeys were positively identified and handed back to their rightful owners, bringing relief to the affected community.

In a statement, the National Police Service praised the vigilance of its officers and highlighted the crucial role played by local residents and administrators in facilitating the recovery.

“This operation is a testament to the effectiveness of community policing and collaboration between security agencies and the public in addressing livestock theft,” the statement read.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
