Security agencies in Marsabit County have recovered 17 stolen goats following a successful multi-agency operation led by officers from Laisamis Police Station.
The coordinated effort involved National Government Administration Officers, National Police Reservists (NPR), and local village elders, who tracked the stolen animals to the Muguri Naarok area, about 57 kilometres south of the police station.
The recovered goats have been taken to Laisamis Police Station for identification and handover to their rightful owner.
One suspect was arrested during the operation and remains in custody pending arraignment in court on Monday.
The National Police Service commended the swift action and cooperation among officers, local administrators, NPR members, and the community, noting that such partnerships are crucial in combating livestock theft and enhancing security in pastoral regions.
