On Sunday, 29 passengers were left stranded in the middle of the road after the driver and his conductor abandoned the bus they were travelling in and vanished into the night.

The bus was said to be travelling from Busia to Nairobi, but after reaching the Sitotwet area along the Kisumu-Kericho road around 2 a.m., the driver stopped and fled, followed by the conductor.

Belgut Sub-county Police Commander Charles Kibati confirmed the incident, adding that one of the passengers reported it at Ainamoi Police Station at 7 a.m.

The 29 passengers gave their statements at Sosiot Police Station and had to find another way to Nairobi.

According to Kabati, the vehicle in question, a Scania bus, was towed to the same police station for further investigation.
