“I wish to thank the Jubilee Party for the support offered to me during my membership. In exercise of my Constitutional rights to belong to any political party of my choice, I hereby wish to resign as member of Jubilee Party,” Mr Shahbal said in the letter.
His resignation has now given the Mombasa businessman a chance to seek the Mombasa Governor seat on a different Political party ticket.

In the 2017 General Election, Mr Shahbal vied for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat but lost to incumbent Governor Hassan Joho.
