Suna West Member of Parliament Peter Masara is mourning the death of his son, Hillary, in what the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) described as a sudden and tragic loss.
The party, through a statement released Monday, June 30, extended its condolences to the grieving legislator and his family. “We commiserate with Hon. Peter Masara, MP for Suna West, for the loss of his beloved son Hillary,” read the message. “We pray for Mheshimiwa and his family to have God’s grace, strength and fortitude in this difficult time of grief.”
Although official details surrounding Hillary’s death remain scarce, early reports shared by constituents on social media suggest the incident was unexpected, further deepening the pain for the family and the broader Migori County community.
This is the latest in a string of personal losses to hit the ODM party in recent months. Just two weeks ago, Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro lost his father on Father’s Day.
Earlier this year, ODM also mourned former MPs Godfrey Ong’ondo and Malulu Injendi — the former was gunned down outside Parliament in late April, the latter succumbed in the ICU in February after a prolonged illness.
