Suspect in Phone Theft Case Now Threatens Uzalendo News Reporters 

A man charged with attempting to “flash” two high-value mobile phones financed through Watu Credit has issued chilling threats against Uzalendo News journalists, demanding the immediate removal of a story published over a year ago.

The suspects who was arraigned at Milimani Law Courts on August 13, 2024, alongside a co-accused, facing two counts of conspiracy to steal and handling stolen goods. 

Prosecutors allege the duo plotted to steal a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra worth Ksh 239,000 belonging to Watu Credit and a seperate charge of stealing a Samsung A24 valued at Ksh 40,000. 

The suspects pleaded not guilty and were released on Ksh 150,000 cash bail each.

Over a year later,  on November 6, 2025, Kutswa sent a menacing WhatsApp message to Uzalendo News’ official line. 

“This sh*t you wrote about me without getting the real story u either delete ama tukutane kotini.” The Swahili threat translates to: “Delete it, or we’ll meet in court.”

Criminal intimidation under Section 238 of the Penal Code, punishable by up to three years in prison.

Uzalendo News has condemned the threats.
