Police in Mombasa have arrested a man in possession of a massive 90-kilogram
consignment of cannabis sativa during a daring operation at Changamwe Roundabout
on 11 August 2025.
The bust followed credible intelligence that led officers from Changamwe Police Station
to mount an undercover ambush targeting a Buscar Bus Ltd vehicle suspected of
ferrying drugs. When the bus was intercepted and searched, officers discovered a bale
disguised as mitumba (second-hand clothes).
Moments later, a man on a motorcycle arrived to collect the package. Acting swiftly,
police apprehended him before he could load it. A thorough inspection revealed tightly
packed rolls of cannabis hidden inside a black polythene bag and wrapped in clothing to
conceal the drugs.The suspect is in police custody as investigations continue.
