A sexual assault suspect risks life sentence as per the sexual offences Act after pleading guilty to having defiled a two year old pastor’s daughter.
Erastus Kariuki was arraigned in court today on two counts of sexual assault against the law. He is accused of defiling as well as touching a two-year-old genital organ with his genital organ.
The accused, according to the charge sheet, defiled the baby in the Zimmerman area of Kasarani in Nairobi.
Kariuki committed the heinous offense by causing his genital organ to penetrate the said baby’s genital organ, which he did unlawfully and intentionally.
According to the investigation report, the suspect posed as a church elder during a harambee on Sunday, July 3 at Spring Light Church in Kasarani. He then gave Ksh 100,000 through the pastor, who is also the father of the defiled minor.
The accused’s “handsome” contribution is thought to have led unsuspecting congregants to believe he was a faithful lamb. He was free to walk around the Church grounds.
This trust also made it easy for him to take advantage of the innocent baby who was playing outside the church at the time.
He was, however, caught red-handed by the child’s mother, who, according to reports, was drawn to the crime scene by her baby’s screams.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Wandia Nyamu at Milimani Law courts and pleaded guilty to the heinous crime, accusing evil spirits of leading him to defile the child.
The prosecution, on the other hand, stated that they were not prepared for the sentencing because the defiled minor was still in critical condition at Koma Rock Modern Hospital.
The court ordered that the accused be remanded in custody at Kasarani police station until tomorrow so that the prosecution could prepare facts for the offense.
