Suspected Gold cartel charged with allegedly stealing Ksh 309K

An alleged gold cartel had his day today in court for conspiring to defraud unsuspecting victim money by pretending they would facilitate inspection of a detained gold at a Kenyan Airport.

Obadiah Kipkemoi Langat alias Richard was arraigned at a Nairobi Court where the prosecution alleged that on diverse dates between August 2 and 6, 2024 conspired to steal Ksh 309,000.

He is said to have duped Azimagli Serge Amani that he was in a position to facilitate inspection of 200kgs of gold which had been detained at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport a fact he knew to be false.

He however denied the charges before Magistrate Ndombi at Milimani Law Courts and was released on Ksh 150,000 cash bail.
