Suspected gold fraudster charged with conspiracy to steal over 1 million USD

An alleged gold cartel was today arraigned in Court facing charges of conspiracy to steal over 1 million USD pretending he would supply gold in return.

Eric Kalala Mukendi, the alleged gold cartel is accused of conspiracy to steal I,271,200.74 USD from Tanner Caldwell Cook, by falsely pretending he would supply 2820 Kgs of gold.

He is alleged to have approached Caldwell on diverse dates between March 31, 2024 and May 30, 2024 and duped him with a lucrative gold business idea hence siphoning 1,271,200.74 US Dollars and disappearing into thin air until officers from the DCI cornered him on December 1, 2024.

He was also charged with stealing Ksh 223,756,000 from the said Caldwell by pretending he would sell him 282O Kgs of gold a fact he knew to be false.

Appearing before Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe, the suspect denied the charges and was detained in police cells until December 11, 2024 for his bail and or bond release ruling by the Court.
