Syria Condemns Israeli Air Strike in Damascus, Seven Civilians Killed

Syria’s foreign ministry has condemned an air strike on a Damascus apartment building on Tuesday evening, reportedly carried out by Israel.

The attack in the Mezzeh neighborhood, which houses several diplomatic facilities, including the Iranian embassy, killed at least seven civilians, according to the ministry.

Women and children were among the casualties.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitoring group, reported a higher death toll of 13, including nine civilians and two Hezbollah fighters.

The group said the strike targeted a location frequented by leaders of Iran’s “Axis of Resistance.”

Syria’s state news agency, Sana, claimed the building was hit by three missiles launched by Israeli aircraft from the occupied Golan Heights.

The Israeli military has not commented on the incident.

Images from the scene showed severe damage to several apartment floors, with emergency services on-site.

Witnesses, like electrician Adel Habib, described the terrifying moments after the blast.

This is the latest in a series of Israeli air strikes in Syria, which have intensified since the conflict in Gaza.

Israel has acknowledged hundreds of strikes in recent years, aimed at Iran-linked targets and Hezbollah, as tensions in the region continue to escalate.
