According to a survey conducted by the research firm Tifa, majority of Kenyans oppose the Azimio coalition’s ongoing anti-government rallies.
According to the report released on Friday, which was conducted between March 11 and 19, this year, only 31% of Kenyans support the Azimio protests.
The rallies were opposed by 64 percent of those who responded to the survey, while 4 percent had no opinion on the subject.
Only 16% of those polled believed that the rallies could lead to President William Ruto’s removal from office.
The majority, 72 percent, believe that the rallies will not result in the removal of the Head of State from office.
12 percent of respondents were uncertain, stating that they do not know whether the current government can be removed from office.
On whether an opposition office should be established and whether the Azimio team should accept the position, 36% of correspondents said the move would strengthen the opposition.
Going further, 48 percent were of the contrary opinion saying the move will weaken the opposition while 16 percent remained neutral saying the move will make no difference.
The findings of the report, however, have a margin error of +-12 percent.
The research was conducted from a sample size of 2,065 respondents.
