Two Tanzanians have been charged with bringing disabled people to Nairobi with the intention of exploiting them by begging
Kuyi Paulo and Sita Yohana were accused of violating children’s rights and exploiting them by subjecting them to inhumane treatment and abandoning them by the side of the road in the city estate to beg
The accused were apprehended by police and children officials from Shauri Moyo sub-county while they were dropping off a 14-year-old physically challenged child they had trafficked from Tanzania.
According to the prosecution, the two defendants have been illegally profiting from alms received by the victims for the past two years.
In count 3, they were charged with being unlawfully in Kenya, after failing to present valid passes.
They were released on an Sh500,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh300,000.
