Police officers in Migori have arrested a 32 year old suspect believed to be linked to a string of violent robberies within Migori County and surrounding areas, following an intelligence-led operation that led to the recovery of a loaded Taurus revolver.
According to police reports, officers from Migori Police Station staged an ambush along the Migori-Kawa Road near Migori Stadium in Nyasare Sub-Location after receiving information about the suspect’s movements.
During the operation, detectives intercepted a grey Toyota Succeed registration number KDM 289F, which investigators suspect had been used as a getaway vehicle in previous criminal activities.
A search conducted inside the vehicle led to the recovery of a Taurus revolver concealed in a compartment near the gear lever. The firearm was loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.
Officers also recovered two additional rounds of .22mm ammunition hidden inside the driver’s side door handle, as well as a dagger believed to have been in the suspect’s possession.
The suspect, identified as Justine Nyamete Jepter, was immediately arrested and taken into custody at Migori Police Station, where he is currently being processed pending arraignment in court.
Police have since detained both the recovered firearm and the vehicle as exhibits as investigations into the alleged robbery incidents continue.
