A Nairobi teacher has been charged at the Milimani Law Courts with forging documents allegedly issued by the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and presenting them to the National Treasury.
Sammy Chelimo Chelanga was arraigned on charges of making a false document and uttering a forged document, both contrary to the Penal Code.
According to the charge sheet, Chelanga is accused of creating a fake letter dated January 31, 2024, purporting to nominate him to the Public Superannuation Scheme.
The document was allegedly crafted to appear as an official communication from the KUPPET Secretary General.
The prosecution also states that on February 1, 2024, Chelanga presented the forged letter at the National Treasury building on Harambee Avenue while claiming it was genuine.
He was arrested without a warrant and produced in court on November 20, 2025.
He pleaded not guilty to both counts.
Four witnesses, including KUPPET officials Maurice Akelo Misori and Hon. Omboko Milemba, have been listed in the case.
When the matter was called out, Chelanga informed the court that the issue had already been resolved.
The prosecution opposed that position and told the court that if there had been any settlement, they would not be in court and plea would not have been taken.
Chelanga also told the court that he is a teacher and a registered KUPPET member.
The court ordered that he remains in custody pending further directions.
A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for November 28, 2025.
