Terror Suspects To Face New Charges – PHOTOS

Three terror suspects who escaped a maximum security prison are set to face fresh charges after their daring escape.

Mohamed Ali Abikar, Joseph Juma Odhiambo, and Musharaf Abdalla Akhulunga were apprehended in Kitui while planning to flee to Somalia.

They were temporarily detained at Mwingi Central Police Station before being airlifted to Kamiti jail.

Following their capture on Thursday, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i declared that the three terror convicts who had fled from Kamiti Maximum Prison will face new charges.

The escapees, Musharaf Abdalla alias Alex Shikanda (34), Joseph Juma Odhiambo (30), and Mohammed Ali Abikar (35) will be arraigned alongside the 9 prison officers suspected of assisting their escape, Matiang’i added.

At the same time, the Interior CS advised Kenyans to be vigilant while assuring them that the government was on high alert to combat any terror-related threats both within the nation and at entrance points such as airports.

On Monday, the three are said to have carved a hole in the wall to escape the heavily-guarded facility, prompting a nationwide manhunt and reforms in prison management.

CS Matiang’i toured the institution after the reviewed top security officials, including a meeting with the new Commissioner-General of Prisons (Rtd) John Kibaso Warioba.

Wycliffe Ogallo was fired on Wednesday over the prison breach, and Warioba took control.
