However, 12 more people have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 53.
Kagwe has emphasized that “despite the recoveries, there is nothing to smile about as our figures still could rise.”
“Our 4.6% death rate is within the global range of 6.3% Out figures should therefore not delude or deceive any of us into dropping the ball,” said Kagwe.
The CS announced 9 more positive cases that emerged from 803 tested samples done in the last 24 hours. The new cases were found through contact tracing and none of them had a history of travel.
Out of 9 cases, 5 are from Nairobi while 4 are from Mombasa, with the ages ranging between 9 to 69 years.
Unfortunately, one more person has also succumbed to the disease raising the death toll to 10.
A total of 2,336 contacts have been monitored out of which 1,911 have been discharged, with 455 contacts being followed up at the moment.
The stern CS emphasized the need for Kenyans to continue wearing masks further urging bodaboda operators to comply with the rules.
