The Embakasi West United Democratic Alliance (UDA)-allied MP George Theuri has conceded defeat after his Jubilee rival Mark Mureithi Mwenje defeated him.
In a social media post on Wednesday morning, Theuri thanked Embakasi West residents for giving him the opportunity to serve them for 10 years.
“I want to take this early opportunity to sincerely thank the entire Embakasi west Constituency for giving me an opportunity to serve you for the past 10yrs,” he said.
Though official results from the Embakasi West MP race are yet to be made, Theuri congratulated the MP-elect and wished him the best as he ascends to the seat.
“As we begin a new chapter, allow me to wish my brother the new incoming Embakasi West MP hon. Mark Mureithi Mwenje best of luck as you embark to start a new era as MP-elect,” stated Theuri.
The lawmaker also appealed to his supporters to give Mwenje all the support he will need as he takes over as their new MP.
“To all my supporters, please let’s support hon. Mark Mwenje as he takes over office and accord him the necessary respect the office deserves,” he stated.
Mark Mwenje, on the other hand, thanked the UDA politician for graciously accepting defeat. He promised to keep his campaign promises after assuming official power.
“I wish to publicly thank Hon. George Theuri for taking the time to call me this morning to wish me well and also for his public statement below to congratulate me as I take on the esteemed leadership of Embakasi West Constituency,” he said.
