Three Arrested In Kawangware During Crackdown On Illicit Brew

Nairobi regional commissioner Lucas Katee Mwanza held a meeting in Dagoreti with area chiefs and youths to sensitize them on the dangers of consuming illicit alcohol.

Three people have been arrested in the Nairobi county Kawangware area for manufacturing and selling illegal brew.

On Thursday evening, the two were found making the illegal drink, while one was found drinking it in a pub.

Senior chief Patrick Adira and Kabiro chief Otweri said the three were apprehended during a crackdown in response to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s directive to hunt down those involved in illegal business.

Nairobi regional commissioner Lucas Katee Mwanza held a meeting in Dagoreti with area chiefs and youths to sensitize them on the dangers of consuming illicit alcohol.

He urged members of the public to report any information concerning illicit liquor to the toll-free number (988) so that the authorities can follow up.

“The calls are free so the general public should help the government fight illicit liquor production,” Simon Nderito, one of the youths present at the meeting, said.
