Three men have been charged at the Milimani Chief Magistrate’s Court in Nairobi over an alleged scheme involving fake National Police Service recruitment letters.
The accused, Timon Kimeli, Isaac Kipchirchir Lagat and Tonny Simiyu Wanyota, were arraigned following investigations by DCI Parklands.
According to the charge sheet dated December 14, 2025, the three face a total of eleven counts arising from offences allegedly committed within Nairobi County.
In count one, all three are jointly charged with obtaining money by false pretence, contrary to Section 313 of the Penal Code.
The prosecution alleges that on December 11, 2025, at Hacienda Hotel, the accused obtained Ksh700,000 from the complainant, Halan Kipkoech, by falsely claiming they could secure him a genuine National Police Service calling letter, a claim the prosecution says they knew to be false.
In counts two to eleven, Timon Kimeli and Tonny Simiyu Wanyota are separately charged with making documents without authority, contrary to Section 357(a) of the Penal Code.
The prosecution alleges that on unknown dates and at unknown places within Kenya, the two, jointly with others, unlawfully made documents purporting to be official National Police Service calling letters signed by the Inspector General, with intent to defraud.
Each count relates to different allegedly forged NPS docket serial numbers, and also another serial number whose details were not clearly indicated in court records.
The accused were arrested on December 11, 2025, without a warrant and have been in custody since.
The court ordered that they be remanded at DCI Parklands and report back on December 17, 2025, pending further directions.
The prosecution has listed Halan Kipkoech as the complainant, with Robinson Kipchumba, Sgt. Jacob Chirtoo and PC Sammy Chavallah named among the key witnesses.
All three accused pleaded not guilty to all counts.
