Three Family Members Arraigned Over Forgery of Late Doctor’s Will

Written By Joyce Nzomo

Three individuals have been charged before the Milimani Law Courts with multiple counts of forgery in connection with the estate of the late Dr. Cyrus Gathirua Ndiritu.

The accused, Irene Wanjiru Ndiritu, Danson Ndiritu Gathirua, and Alex Karuri Gathirua, are alleged to have forged crucial documents including the deceased’s last will, a trust deed, and share transfer forms spanning more than 20 years.

According to the charge sheet, the trio, alongside others not before court, allegedly forged “The Last Will and Testament” of Dr. Ndiritu between May 1999 and May 2023, purporting it to be genuine and duly signed by the deceased.

In addition, they are accused of uttering the forged will at the High Court’s Family Division in 2010. The prosecution further alleges that during the same period, they forged a trust deed purportedly signed by Dr. Ndiritu and later presented it in court. They also face charges of forging a share transfer document dated April 20, 2000.

The three pleaded not guilty to all charges. The presiding magistrate granted them cash bail of Ksh 1 million each, with two contact persons, and ordered them to surrender their passports to the court.

The matter is set for mention on a later date.
