Three more bodies were last evening recovered from the site of the collapsed building in Infinity Area, Mwiki, Kasarani Constituency. This brings the total number of confirmed fatalities to 6.
Earlier in the day on Thursday, three people had been rescued alive with minor injuries. The three were rushed to hospital and later discharged.
Search and rescue operations have since been completed as the contingent of Emergency Response and rescue teams officially ended their operations. This decision was reached after families of the missing persons believed to have been in the building at the time of collapse were all accounted for.
This morning, residents gathered around the remains of what used to be a four storey residential block as they mourned their friends, relatives and neighbors who were fataly injured in the incident.
A team of experts from the National Construction Authority have collected evidence together with the National Police Service to unravel what caused the building to collapse.
