Three Trapped Siaya Miners Rescued

Three more miners have been recovered alive from the collapsed Abimbo goldmines in Siaya County, which trapped eight miners on Thursday last week.

The three people recovered at 2 a.m. on Wednesday brought the total number of people rescued from the 500-foot-deep mines to six.

During the event, one miner died, and his body was sent to the Bondo hospital mortuary.

Bondo DCC Richard Karani confirmed the successful recovery of the three miners but said that the rescue mission will continue to retrieve the last worker who is still stuck in the deep shaft.

Those rescued today, according to Karani, are in good health and have been transferred to Bondo Hospital for treatment.

Since the mines collapsed on Thursday afternoon, local miners, the Red Cross, and national and county government teams have been working to save people.
