Detectives have arrested Godfrey Mwasiaga, popularly known as Kakan Maiyo, in connection with a viral TikTok video in which he allegedly incited violence against police officers and their families.
Mwasiaga was apprehended at Kimathi House in Nairobi, where he was operating an office under the business name LetaPeleka Logistics.
His arrest follows an intensive investigation by law enforcement agencies who had been tracking his online activity after the controversial video circulated widely on social media.
In the video, the suspect is said to have made inflammatory remarks calling for attacks on police officers; a move that drew strong condemnation from the public and authorities amid ongoing national tensions over protest crackdowns.
According to DCI, Mwasiaga is currently in police custody undergoing processing and will be arraigned in court to face charges related to incitement and misuse of social media platforms.
Authorities have warned that they are closely monitoring digital content and will not hesitate to take legal action against individuals using online platforms to promote hate, incitement, or violence.
Mwasiaga’s arrest marks one of the first high-profile crackdowns on online incitement in the wake of nationwide protests.
