Tory Lanez Recovering After Brutal Stabbing in Prison

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, was hospitalized on Monday after being stabbed 14 times by another inmate at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. The attack occurred around 7:20 a.m. during morning yard time.

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, sustained multiple stab wounds to his back, torso, head, and face, resulting in both lungs collapsing. He was rushed to a hospital in Bakersfield, where he was initially placed on a breathing apparatus. According to a statement from his team, he is now breathing on his own and in stable condition.

The motive behind the attack remains under investigation. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the Office of the Inspector General, and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office are all involved in the ongoing inquiry.

Lanez was convicted in December 2022 on three felony counts related to the July 2020 shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and is eligible for parole in 2029.

Despite his incarceration, Lanez had recently announced the completion of a new album expected to release in summer 2025.

The incident has raised concerns about inmate safety and prison conditions, prompting calls for a thorough review of security protocols within the facility.
