Tottenham Beats Wolves To Keep Europa Hopes Alive

With a convincing Premier League win over Wolves, Tottenham increased their chances of qualifying for the Europa League.

Spurs, who are five points adrift of the top four, overtake West Ham into sixth place on goal differential, with Everton three points further down.

The hosts deserved to win after hitting the woodwork three times after producing several wonderful chances.

On the stroke of half-time, Harry Kane, who had an early shot deflected against the left post, put Spurs on their way, neatly tapping home the opening from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s wonderful ball.

While Wolves were dangerous on the break, they were forced to rely on luck at times, with Kane and Dele Alli both hitting the right-hand post seconds apart.

After Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio parried a Gareth Bale shot, Hojbjerg unexpectedly increased Spurs’ lead, reacting fastest to slip the ball into the bottom right corner.

For the visitors, Romain Saiss, Adama Traore, and Fabio Silva all had decent chances to respond, but it was another disappointing day in front of goal for Wolves, who stay 12th in the standings.
