Tourists Exempted From Mandatory Test

Fully vaccinated tourists will no longer be required to take a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test, The Ministry of Health has now said.

Unvaccinated overseas tourists traveling in Kenya, according to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, would be asked to submit a negative test.

“Fully vaccinated travelers shall be excluded from the necessity of a PCR test.” “All eligible unvaccinated travelers entering in Kenya at any point of entry must have a negative COVID-19 test performed within 72 hours,” Kagwe noted.

Unvaccinated travelers will also be subjected to a quick antigen test at their own expense of USD30, according to the CS.

“Anyone who tests positive on antigen RTD will be subjected to entry PCR at their own cost of $50 USD and self isolation,” he explained.

He added that children under the age of five will be excluded from the obligation.

Passengers arriving at any point of entry into the nation would also be asked to fill out a passenger location form on the Jitenge portal, a platform set up to ease tracking.

Furthermore, truck drivers and passengers from Eastern African Community nations who are completely vaccinated would not need a COVID-19 PCR test slip to enter Kenya, according to the Ministry.
