Traders Lament Over Lost ‘Bottom-up’ Funds

Githurai traders have expressed their anger at DP William Ruto’s campaign machine, after monies promised to them are yet to be distributed.

Sospeter Mwangi, a trader, stated that at least 1000 traders were invited to the Deputy President’s official residence, where he was afterward given Ksh 2 million to support their small enterprises.

The money was supposed to be shared among several groups in the larger market, but they are upset since they have yet to get a coin, despite the fact that it has been over two months.

“He continues telling us about bottom-up, and we believed him, but he doesn’t follow through on his promises.” Perhaps he sent the money to our leaders, but please inform him that we have not received any.” Mwangi explained.

They are now demanding on the deputy president to come out and clarify whether he channeled the funds through local leaders who took them to Karen and may have kept the funds for himself, or whether he is still standing by his word.
