A traffic officer passed away on Sunday, December 10, after he was hit at Koteko Roadblock area along Malaba Bungoma Road.
According to a police statement, Nancy Chepchumba, attached to Amagoro patrol base, was manning roadblock at the said area when she was hit by a speeding motor vehicle which never stopped after the accident.
The vehicle was being driven from Malaba heading towards Bungoma direction.
“As a result of the impact she sustained serious head injuries and rushed to Teso North sub county hospital whereby she died while undergoing treatment,” the statement read in part.
According to police, the scene was visited, photographed and marked.
The body of the deceased officer was moved to Bungoma county hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting autopsy.
Efforts to trace the motor vehicle and driver are currently underway.
