Tragedy Strikes in Shauri Moyo as Sewer Line Collapse Claims Four Lives

A tragic incident in the Shauri Moyo estate has claimed the lives of four people after a sewer line collapsed during excavation.

The accident occurred in the early hours, prompting a swift emergency response from local authorities and rescue teams.

Dr. Resila Atieno Onyango, spokesperson for the National Police Service, confirmed the grim news, stating that recovery efforts are still ongoing at the site of the collapse.

“We have so far retrieved four bodies from the scene following the sewer line collapse,” she reported to Citizen Digital.

In addition to the fatalities, three individuals were rescued and have been transported to Mama Lucy Hospital for medical attention.

The Nairobi City County fire brigade, along with the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) Ambulance, Kenya Red Cross, and Kenya Police, coordinated their efforts in the rescue operation.

Dr. Onyango emphasized that the scene remains active and that the operation is being led by the regional security team to ensure that no further casualties arise.

The Kenya Red Cross has been actively involved in the rescue efforts, highlighting the collaborative response from various agencies in the face of this tragic incident.
