Trans Nzoia registers highest COVID-19 cases, as death toll escalates to 669

Trans Nzoia County has recorded 28 out of the 141 new cases of Coronavirus, signifying a dynamic shift of COVID-19 cases away from the urban centers. – By Gerald Gekara

Other counties that registered new cases were; Nakuru (24), Nairobi, and Mombasa (14), Kiambu (9), Migori (8), while Kisumu and Kajiado each recorded (6) cases.

Uasin Gishu, Kitui, Narok, Turkana have 5 cases each, and Bungoma, Homa Bay, Machakos, West Pokot have each recorded 2 cases. Murang’a, Nandi, Vihiga, Meru and Busia reported (1) case each.

While speaking at the Thika Level 5 Hospital, Kiambu County, Health CAS Mercy Mwangangiannounced that only seven of the new cases are foreigners. Kenya’s total caseload is now 37,489.

In the new statistics, 103 are males and 38 are female, with the youngest case being a 4-year-old child and the oldest is aged 74.

81 patients have also been discharged over the same period, with 69 of the patients from various hospitals and 12 from the the home-based care programme. The total number of recoveries now stands at 24,334.

However, Kenya’s death toll rose to 669, after 5 patients succumbed to the scourge.
