The national Treasury has released Sh30m to fight the locust menace being experiences in some parts of the country.
Agriculture CS Peter Munya has announced the move assuring the public that the government in control.
This will be Munya’s first assignment in the new docket after being moved from the trade ministry.
3 more air crafts have been hired for spraying while 4 air crafts have been put in place to provide surveillance services starting tomorrow.
The government has also procured 20,000 litres of control pesticide.
According to Munya seven swarms have been largely controlled with five being monitored closely as spraying continues in Laikipia and Isiolo.
Munya has urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and report any new swarms spotted.
He has also cautioned Kenyans against consuming the locusts once they have been sprayed.
